Arts Banquet, o9/o6/2oo9

I remember the crowd started moving slowly.
Beside me was Simrin and Adrita.
Then KCI and Jojo's 'All My Life' started playing.
Around me, people started slow dancing, and it was that moment I knew what my life had come to. Adrita and Simrin both grabbed me by the waist and we sorta started 'group-dancing'. Before long, the remaining members of my cast started joining the circle.
I did not dare look up. I did not dare look into their eyes, and to their faces.
All I could do was look to the ground and stare at my feet.
Flashbacks of memories were being replayed in my head, like a film without a sound.
We have come such a long way. Drama is life. These people are a part of me. I want to take each of them into my life. I am desperately wanting them to be around. These are memories that I will forever remember. I love everyone of them so much. I do not want to let them go.

I feel nothing less that proudness for everyone of them that night.
Although there were some odd happenings that landed some people from our cast to be in trouble, it was sort of something that made the night more eventful.

Drama is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Oh boy, I need a life.

I am not ready for exams.
I am not ready for prom.
......I am even not ready for school tomorrow.
I'm sitting in bed.
My head and nostrils all stuffed and feeling sorry for myself.
I am terribly bored.
Really, I should be doing my work or nerd up.
But I'm lazy
My routine for this weekend has been: eat, sleep, facebook. =]

God bless the guy who invented facebook. Snooping around peoples' lives and stalking them on the internet has never made me feel so much more productive. Well, I don't stalk. It's not exactly stalking....just, getting updated on what's new...in the world.

For example, my mom's cousin (my uncle?) just got engaged. I was looking through the photos and he looked amazing. His fiancee is gorgeous too. Looking through the photos made me miss everyone in SG. It has been 3 years since I last saw everyone....

Okay, so I will do something productive today. Maybe I'll start registering my courses for Carleton and OSAP.
Come what may.

Oh, the memories....

It was dark and cool tonight when I walked home.
I don't know why, but there is something about strolling at night that calms me down. I have been reminiscing a lot lately. But one particular memory conjured up in my mind.

I remember it was November. Grey and cold. I walked into the school, lugging around an empty backpack, and headed straight into the office. There, I was escorted by two boys, Aaron and Andy, my classmates. Aaron was chanting "Lego Maniac" on the way to our class. At the first sight of Ms. Knight, I knew she was friendly. Our classroom was a portable at Fallingbrook Middle School, directly across my current high school.
I remember keeping my purple jacket on in class and refusing to take it off when my teacher told me to. Then, I recall resting my head on the desk the whole day, afraid to look up to the class, at my peers and at anybody. My teacher had asked if I was sick. I refused to admit then that I missed everyone terribly. Instead, I said I had a headache. I remember seeing little feet surrounding my desk after. There were people telling me to "get better soon". And promises of being my friend. I felt welcome instantly. Although, I did not look up until the end of the day (I rested my head for all six hours of school). But I did make friends the following day....and my peers lived up to their promises.

That was my first day of school in grade five. I remember it like yesterday, but it was seven years ago.

Another step up the ladder;

Summer is a month away. There is 2 weeks of school left. Days away before high school ends.
There were 9 of us. We stood in a circle, cups filled with Sprite. In pretense of maturity, I laughed at the thought of how immature we really were. We were toasting to success and happiness of our future. With plastic clear cups and fizzy drinks, I was overwhelmed with so many emotions.
Maybe that was a symbolic moment for me.
Among the girls who I desperately want to have with me in my future.
That was probably a defining moment.
The moment when I looked around the faces in the circle,
And realized we were all transitioning into a new beginning.
We were leaving behind our childhood.
Taking with us our memories
And transitioning into womanhood.

Playing ignorant

I am currently working on a video/documentary on Teenage Apathy in Politics.
The things people say are amusing.
On a survey that asks for the name of the leader of the Green Party, someone wrote
"This guy with green hair and piercing on his right ear."
That very much sounds like a tree to me. =)

On a happier note...

Happy Birthday to Mama and Rocky! =)

Our lives are like candle in the wind -Sandburg

I am writing this with a heavy sinking feeling in my heart.
I walked through the halls of the school today, it was dead silent.
As I stood by the main entrance, tables have been set up in loving memory of Lucas Krula.
The blue-eyed, blonde Lucas who every girl in the school had a crush on.
The same Lucas who sat at the other end of my American history class last year...
Whose mother is Ms. Krula, the Technology teacher, who frequently checked to make sure Lucas wasn't skipping class, causing the class to tease him.
He was polite and quiet.

He was the same Lucas that every tear-stained faces cried for when I entered my school today.

It was surreal.
Classes were quiet.
Girls were crowding in the bathroom crying.
I could not walk a metre away without seeing people mourning. It really breaks my heart to see one of my guy friends fall apart. He had known all three who passed.

I skipped classes with Sarah Y, and went straight home because it was expected that no work will be done in class. We were both overwhelmed.

While I spent my weekend relaxing at Port Stanley, the life of another one of my peers was taken away. It is tragic. 10 days left til graduation. Another tragedy, as an insult to injury.
This was not how I envisioned my graduating year. Three lives within the span of two months. All incidents were driving related. This had to be a sign, a lesson or an omen of some sort. Nonetheless, it was inevitable.

Despite the adversity, it is beautiful to see how connected and strong we are. The sense of community and humanity, really surfaces at the time of loss. My heart goes to their family. I did not personally know Babrus Abbas, Gurpreet Khela, or Lucas Krula. But their presence and energy did impact my life. They once wandered the hallways. I have seen them smile and heard them laughed...all four years of my high school. It is hard to grasp that they are not with us anymore.

I drove by the crash site just now to drop my friend home. It was decorated with memorial of flowers, and photographs. It hit me how easily our lives can be taken away.

To Lucas, Babrus and Gurpreet, time was too short for the three of you. Your presence will remain in our hearts. We will forever remember you.
